Kneeling Monk Records is an independent label founded on the belief that extraordinary music deserves a home that takes it seriously.
How We Started
Kneeling Monk Records was founded in 2025 by Troy "MONK" Underwood and was funded by a true believer in local talent. Mr. Jay (K)Neel(ing). We believed — and still believe — that the best music comes from artists who are given the space, time, and trust to make something real.
What We Believe
Artists first, always.
Every decision we make starts with the question: is this good for the artist? Not the label, not the algorithm, not the quarterly report. The artist.
We play the long game.
We're not interested in one-hit careers. We sign artists we believe in for the long haul and build catalogs that grow in value over time.
Honest deals, no fine print.
Our contracts are straightforward. We explain everything. We don't hide recoupment clauses or bury rights grabs in legalese.
Real music, made by real people.
We sign artists who make music because they have to — not because they've reverse-engineered a playlist algorithm. That distinction matters to us.
